The midfield this year is nuts. Mclaren won the best of rest on a razor thin margin. Also bc Aston/RP incurred point deductions they won't get this year. Alpine was very close to Aston and Mclaren until the last week or so last year, so don't expect them to just lie down and die. All this and Ferrari and Alfa are still an unknown quantity with that new power unit. Those two could legit gain huge ground as well. It's easy to say Mclaren will win third bc they're the hype machine and deservedly so, but I think defending that spot THIS year is more challenging than RB's chances of winning the whole year. I expect Mercedes to cease work on this year's car very early, and with 23 races that could really do them in, especially since RBR is starting strong for once. Man, what a year ahead. Be prepared for a surprise, too. We might see a team we don't expect popping up on an early podium - a team like Alpha Tauri. Man, just too many possibilities.

Why is everyone saying alonso isn't race sharp!! He's been racing in WEC which you need to be sharper than F1 because of there being lower classes cars on track you have to deal with that don't just get out of the way. Alonso will be fine and is in no worse position than any of the others

It's sad to see Vettel at the bottom. The year he switches to a Mercedes powered engine and that's the year Mercedes doesn't seem to be very good. And Vettel is not even beating his teammate Lance Stroll. Worrying trend... because whenever Vettel loses to his teammate, he doesn't seem to be able to get back on top

As an Aussie, happy that the RIC move has gone so smoothly at McLaren. He looks comfortable and ready to go. Look forward to seeing how he deals with Lando. Was a shame to see Vettel not get the mileage he needed at the test. While I found him arrogant and a bit of a dick during his time at RB, think the struggles of the last few years at Ferrari have dialled that back significantly and hope he can bring Aston into the fight at the front. Can't wait to see how Checo does at RB with a very quick car! Hope he towels VER! Yuki's gonna be awesome! Oh yeah, and Alonso's back. Look out Ocon!

Vettel and Aston never got to do any quali sim runs on the third day due to the turbo issue. Stroll in the same car had a mid 1:30 lap time and 3rd fastest on day 2, so I am sure the AMR21 will be competitive in the mid field and that Vettel will be fine. The fact that Aston had both a gearbox issue and a turbo issue is a bit worrying though, but we'll see.

Of the group it is Perez and then Ricciardo the ones better prepared to do a team change and actually keep performance at their maximum capabilities. One can see their style handling good and bad car packages in the past and although performance suffered it only did because of the hardware, not their skills. Vettel is opposite (opposite Raikkonen): one wrong screw color and the driver won’t deliver his own best... we saw that at RB against Daniel and then Ferrari against Leclerc. I am not sure but I think Carlos is like the former two... and Sebastian will have issues until AM gives him a pristine chassis... while Stroll will score points and podiums as he was just an inexperienced potentially good driver and now he is no longer inexperienced
