Double points available for a V8 race round Bathhurst, ditto for results from an f3 race around McCau and a third set of double points for a 3 lap race around the isle of man course in equal WRC cars. Mercedes increased thermal efficiency of that engine. Can they start a race with a few kilos lighter on fuel or everyone starts with the same amount? I have no doubts that Mercedes has tricks up its sleeve. Also they perk up in those European circuits with cooler temperatures. I like how the competition is shaping up. As far as Valterri ... I think Mercedes supremacy is so strong that second place is like a desert with the 3rd place not being much of a challenge and the number one just peeling away. Max on a strong year still came 3rd and barely made the number two sweat.

Max still has to learn strategic patience. How he went tail to noise with Sergio at Turkey with slippery wet surface when he had the faster car that he could pick and choose when to overtake with only to get washed out by loss of down force illustrates the inexperience he's still learning from. Btw it could instead be his confidence in his abilities instead of patience. If that is the case then he's not going to learn from high risk incidents like that and won't really gain experience. But I don't think it's the case of confidence blinding him because that Bahrain race where Leclerc drove into Sergio pushing Max off the track showed max to be trading the cautious approach to racing lines and wasn't the cause of that. He showed patience in that matchup.

I think Checo is extremely underrated even today, that Sauber season with 3 poduims was pretty much like Senna's 84 with Toleman and that Malasyan gp was like Senna's Monaco in 84. McLaren damaged his reputation pretty badly and he didn't deserved it that car was pretty bad and he didn't have the team behind him, he should've waited for that Ferrari seat. But he continued to deliver podiums in pretty bad cars, that's something Max and Charles never accomplished in a lesser team, neither Lewis but thats just because he never really had a bad car so we'll never know if he would've achieved podiums or even wins in lesser machinery. The same goes for Checo in a top car, perhaps he'll surprise us and could join Max and Lewis in a fight fir the title, but I think that only if Bottas is also up there otherwise if every Mercedes win goes to Lewis it's game over for the red bulls.

I'm not a massive Ham fan I'll admit. But you can't doubt him or say it's just the car, that's ridiculous. The guy burst onto the scene in his rookie year and was one error away from winning the championship that same year, he finished tied on points with Alonso who had won the title for the two years prior. Not only that, Hamilton rarely makes mistakes. We overlook it, but he is constantly and consistently fast and focused, even after being dominant for so long. He will go down as one of the best in history and deserves that credit.

Just the fact that Verstappen disappeared into the sunset didn't mean that the Mercedes was all of a sudden so very much overclassed. The Verstappen factor is not to be overlooked.

Nah, if the _Red Bull_ has even the slightest edge, VER will smoke HAM. HAM has been running out front so long that his wheel-to-wheel combat skills, aren't as strong as they once were. Even more importantly, there is little reason to believe the _W12_ will be considerably better than its predecessors when having to chase from positions in traffic. Further, I would even offer that the HAM who once tamed any kind of package to extract the maximum from sub-optimal machinery now fares even poorer than BOT when car handling gets tricky. I hope we are treated to an actual battle for the _WDC,_ but doubt one will materialise.

Russell is going to need to make a decision about his future fairly soon - he's in the same age bracket as Verstappen and Leclerc, and they're both in high profile teams, while he is trundling around in one of the grid's slowest cars, and he'll get to the point where he can't live off his junior career soon enough. If Hamilton stays for 2022, Russell needs to forget about waiting and try and bag a seat as close to the front as possible.

Even Ferrari had the quicker car in 2018 and most of 2017 But max, oh the wonderful max, has had to win in cars that are supposedly like wheel barrows.
